November is Coming…

What are YOU going to do?

There are 24 million Americans with diabetes (type 1, type 2, gestational) and 57 million with prediabetes.  That’s  81 million children, moms, dads, grandparents, friends, spouses, and neighbors that all have the possibility of having their lives cut short because of this disease. This is not a problem; it’s an epidemic!

So, what can you do? Find a way to GET INVOLVED!

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month.  Several organizations are creating programs to raise awareness about diabetes in November (and beyond).  Here are 3 easy ways to get involved this November….

 GET INVOLVED

1-      Click, Vote, Prevent Diabetes: The Skinny Gene Project is eligible to receive a $50,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project to launch a Diabetes Prevention & Nutrition Education program in another community.  To win this, we need your vote. (Psst!! There are prizes for participating).

To  join our army of diabetes prevention advocates, please CLICK the  link to join our cause, VOTE in November (instructions to come), and help us PREVENT diabetes. http://www.causes.com/causes/534268/about

2-      Shine the BLUE light.  The organization 1 Disease! World! Voice!  is  asking everyone to light-up BLUE for the entire month of November. Light-up, ribbon-up, or paint-up – it doesn’t matter how you do it, just go BLUE in November. It’s a great way to honor friends and family, whose lives have been taken by diabetes, live with diabetes every day, and fight to prevent it. https://1diseaseworldvoice.org/bigblue

3-      Share Your Story. American Diabetes Association is asking you to share your 30-second video for why you want diabetes stopped once and for all. (Also offering a prize for participation)
